Poulton FC faced a challenging encounter on Saturday, March 23rd, as they traveled to Lightfoot Lane in Preston to take on Fulwood Amateurs. Despite showing moments of promise, Poulton ultimately fell to a 5-1 defeat against a formidable Fulwood side.

The match started positively for Poulton, with Max Landless opening the scoring in the 12th minute, sending our supporters into jubilation. However, our lead was short-lived as Fulwood quickly responded, with S. Lucas finding the back of the net just three minutes later to level the score.

As the first half progressed, Fulwood continued to apply pressure, and they capitalized on a defensive lapse to take the lead just before halftime, courtesy of W. Pitt’s goal in the 45th minute. Trailing 2-1 at the break, Poulton regrouped and sought to mount a comeback in the second half.

Despite our best efforts, Fulwood proved to be a formidable opponent, extending their lead with goals from S. Lucas in the 70th minute and Y. Resaei in the 84th minute. The task became even more daunting as Fulwood were awarded a penalty in the 86th minute, which S. Lucas duly converted to complete his hat-trick and seal the 5-1 victory for the home side.

Although disappointed with the result, Poulton FC showed resilience and determination throughout the match. Despite facing a talented Fulwood team, we remain optimistic and committed to bouncing back stronger in our upcoming fixtures. As we reflect on this challenging defeat, we will use it as motivation to continue working hard and striving for success in the remainder of the season.
