Poulton made the trip to Coppull for their third match in a grueling seven-day stretch, eager to bounce back from Tuesday’s home defeat. The opening ten minutes were a tense affair, with both sides vying for control and trading early chances. However, it was Poulton’s keeper, Matei Licsor, who was called into action, producing two crucial saves to keep the game level. At 20 minutes, Poulton broke the deadlock when Otis Lewis-Chambers rose above the defence to powerfully head home from a corner, putting the visitors 1-0 up. Just 14 minutes later, Dom Gill doubled the advantage with a well-taken strike, showcasing Poulton’s growing dominance. As the half wore on, Poulton began to play some free-flowing football, but despite their control, the score remained 2-0 at the break. The second half began more cautiously, with Coppull pushing players forward in a bid to claw their way back into the contest. Although Poulton seemed content to drop off slightly, their relaxed approach led to a lapse in concentration, allowing Coppull to capitalise and make it 2-1 in the 56th minute after a defensive error. Despite Coppull’s increased urgency, Poulton’s defence, held firm, maintaining their organisation and composure. In the 72nd minute, Corey Harrison restored Poulton’s two-goal cushion with a superb 20-yard strike following a brilliant team move. The visitors then sealed the victory in the 85th minute when Max Landless coolly converted a penalty after Ellis Jollis was fouled in the box while chasing down a seemingly lost cause. After the match, manager Dale Azzopardi praised his side’s performance, stating, “That was much more like us. The response from the lads was exactly what we needed after Tuesday’s underwhelming performance. Apart from a few short spells, we looked comfortable throughout.“ Poulton will hope to take this form into Tuesday’s game as they host Wyre Villa in a derby game.
