Poulton arrived at a bright and breezy Thomason Fold looking to building on last week’s impressive home victory. The game started scrappily with both teams lacking any real quality. The first chance of note fell to the home side, with a low strike impressively saved from Matei Licsor down to his left. Shortly after the visitors were nearly behind, but stand in liner Roper’s flag came to the rescue with what can only be described as a ‘Hollowellesque’ decision, big let off! This seemed to spark Poulton into life and they grew into the game with some long periods of possession without really troubling the Turton shot stopper. As half time approached some tricky wing play by Will Robinson ended with the ball falling to debutant Josh Buchanan who made no mistake from 12 yards out, 0-1. Shortly after the half time whistle went and the visitors went in with a fortunate lead. The second half started more positively and Poulton looked to assert their dominance on the game, with the impressive Jordan Bullen and Danny Warren taking control in midfield, the latter doubling Poulton’s lead on 50 minutes with a great strike from 20 yards finding the bottom corner after some excellent play down the right starting with Irving Dorman and assisted by Will Andrew, 0-2. As the game went on Poulton’s dominance continued with Adam Jennings hitting both uprights and Isak Islamovic going just wide after a great through ball. A third was surely in the offing as Turton looked deflated and not troubling captain Porter’s solid defence. As suggested the third came shortly after with Danny Warren finishing with aplomb after Turton failed to clear from a corner, 0-3. With game put to bed it was time to ring the changes with Jak Roper, Harry Smith and Ollie Edwards replacing Josh Buchanan, Will Robinson and Danny porter respectively. The visitors saw out the rest of the game comfortably, helped when Turton were reduced to 10 men after a second bookable offence. A solid second half performance saw Poulton dominate possession and deservedly take all 3 points back to the Fylde. Danny Warren picking up MOM pipping his centre midfield partner Bullen. Other notable performances came from Donners and Irving at the back and the assured stopper Licsor. Onto next week when we welcome Rossendale reserves to Fortress Cottam Hall.
