In our final PLAYER IN FOCUS this week, goalscoring machine Tyler Hallan joined us to provide an insight into his Poulton journey so far…

Tyler, this is now your second season (and first full one) with Poulton. What attracted you to stay and how is it going so far?

“I’d say over pre-season we brought in a lot of quality young players which has added to the squad from last year and definitely strengthened us and you could see it straight away. The mix between the older lads with experience which have been here for years and the young lads coming through was a massive positive and it’s shown up until this point of the season. Things are going really well so far – long may it continue and hopefully we get some silverware!”

You’re right up there for the league Golden Boot award. Is that one of your targets this season?

“Yeah it’s really exciting and something I’ve definitely got my eyes on. It’s always nice to be up there with goals, but more importantly helping the team out with my goals. There’s a long way to go until the end of the season, but I’m confident I’ll be up there by the end of it.”

What have you learned from training and playing in this league and alongside some of the more experienced players in the squad?

“A lot for sure! Since pre-season we’ve definitely been instilled a way of playing which has gone through the whole club – not just the first team but the reserves aswell which is really positive and it’s definitely helped training become more competitive and enjoyable. The experienced lads here are great and they help so much with us younger ones to be able to express ourselves more which is always what you want. We’ve got a core set of lads, a really good mix between experienced and younger and I’m sure they’ll guide us to a good finish in the table and some silverware.”

How would you sum up the season so far?

“It’s definitely been positive. We’ve played some great football over the whole course of the season and we are in a good position in the league with games in hand which is always good. We have had a few rough spells where we know we should have picked up more points, but I’m sure we will kick on from it now and learn.”

And what has been the biggest positive for you so far?

“I’d say the togetherness in the group – it’s great! The reserves lads support the firsts when not playing, and vice versa which always makes the place feel good to be. On a personal note I’ve not enjoyed football this much in a very long time and it’s probably showing in my performances and that’s down to the togetherness aswell so it’s definitely been a huge turning point this year I think.”
